Stuff-a-bus Program

The fifth annual Food Drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank and Toys for Tots (U.S. Marines) was sponsored by the Maryland Motorcoach Association under the Stuff-A-Bus Program on December 9, 2011 at the Best Western PLUS, in Baltimore MD.  MMA would like to thank all of the members who took the time to gather food, toyrs and open thier checkbooks to contribute to the Maryland Food Bank and Toys for Tots Programs.

 

The Maryland Motorcoach Association's Stuff-A-Bus Event a Huge Success

 

(Baltimore, MD)  - - The Maryland Motorcoach Association is  pleased to inform you that our Annual Stuff-A Bus benefiting the Maryland Food Bank the Capital Area Food Bank and Toys for Tots which was held on December 9, 2011 was a huge success.


The Stuff A Bus Event against Hunger is an annual tradition of our association that can make an encouraging influence in our state," said Al Spence, President of Maryland Motorcoach Association.  "We had an opportunity here to help Marylanders by encouraging all of our members to come out and participate in this event and we took it."


488,788 Marylanders are currently living at or below the federal poverty level 53,823 seniors and 137,831 children are at risk of hunger each and every day. The fastest growing segment of those in need of work full time.

 

The Maryland Food Bank has seen an increase in demand for their services up to 50% and Capital Area Food Bank of between 30-70%.  Many of those being served were considered middle class before this economic recession took hold. 

 

Mary Presley, Executive Administrator of the Maryland Motorcoach Association says "MMA made an immense impact with Stuff A Bus.  Our event's 2011 goal was a huge succeess thanks to our many MMA members." 

 

Contributions included:

$1,020 in Cash Donations to the Maryland Food Bank the Capital Area Food Bank

4065 pounds of non-perishable food items, warm clothing & toys for our Toys for Tots Drive.

Box 320266, Alexandria, VA 22320.  Checks can be made payable to Maryland Food Bank and funds generated will be forwarded to the Capital Area Food Bank.
